Why Gibraltar?
Due to our geographical location, we are very fortunate to be a multicultural, multilingual destination, with Morocco and Spain just a stone’s throw away. Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory that juts out into the ocean from the Iberian peninsula. Our coastline is punctuated with beautiful beaches - we are surrounded by water with Spain lying just beyond the runway on the fourth. On a clear day, Africa's mountainous coast is visible in the distance as Morocco is just a 20 minute flight away! The views from up the Rock are stunning; there aren't many other places in the world where you can see two continents and three separate countries from one viewpoint. Although English is our official language, most locals are also fluent in Spanish.
Activities
Another reason to choose Gibraltar as your language learning destination is the abundance of activities to fit in around your study schedule. Visit the top of the Rock to pay the local macaques a visit; travel around colourfully-lit caves and through Gibraltar’s old wartime tunnels to learn about their history; hop on a dolphin watching tour around the bay; meander around the stunning The Botanic Gardens, The Alameda and drop in to its Wildlife Conservation Park. Not forgetting, learning about our successful UNESCO bid or joining us at one of our multitude of events!

SUMMER ENGLISH at the University of Gibraltar!
Our Intensive English Summer courses aim to help you improve your understanding of spoken and written English and learn about the History and culture of Gibraltar. Get to know us: our history; our architecture; our famous monkeys; and our natural world all in English. You will work on developing and improving your listening and communication skills; pronunciation and fluency; use of grammatical structures; and expanding your vocabulary. Develop your reading strategies and become more competent when writing for different purposes.
You will benefit from small class sizes, high-quality teaching and a student-centred, participative learning approach.
We will work together to improve your Common European Framework of Reference for Languages from Beginner to Proficient levels (A2-C1), based on the exam syllabus of Cambridge Assessment English.
At the end of the course, you can choose to take the Cambridge Assessment English Linguaskill Test, a new multi-level test that will assist you if you wish to study or work overseas.

BEGINNER SUMMER SPANISH at the University of Gibraltar!
These courses take place for 2 or 4 weeks, for 4 hours a day from 10.00 – 14.30, a total of 20 hours a week. All our General Spanish courses focus on listening skills; communication and fluency; grammatical structures; reading strategies; and writing. Students benefit from small class sizes, high-quality teaching and a participative, student-centred learning approach.
