Gallardo del Rey José María Gallardo del Rey made his debut in Seville at the age of nine and since then has been garnering the greatest hits from audiences and critics around the world. His training as a classical guitarist has been enriched by his intense relationship with the world of Flamenco. The combination of both styles has created a unique way to interpret and understand Spanish music. It is for this reason that his presence becomes essential in projects like “Pasión Española”, with Plácido Domingo (Latin Grammy 2008), “Habanera Gipsy”, with Elina Garança (2010), “Caprichos Líricos”, with Teresa Berganza (1996) or his work as director and artistic adviser of Paco de Lucía in his debut with the Concierto de Aranjuez (Japan 1990).

As Spanish Musical Ambassador, his presence is frequently required in concerts and cultural events such as EXPO 92, EXPO AICHI 2005, Years of Spain in China, Korea, EXPO Shanghai 2010, Year Cervantes, Centenario Albéniz, and especially in Centenario Rodrigo, that has led him to interpret his concerts for guitar throughout the world.

Recognized composer, his works are performed in the most important music festivals and choreographed by dance names such as María Pagés, Victor Ullate and Lola Greco in shows such as “Sevilla”, “De la Luna al Viento”, “Don Quijote” And “Iberia”.

As an Artist of Deutsche Grammophon, José María Gallardo del Rey has edited “The Trees Speak”, “14 Maneras De Echarte De Menos” and his album with La Maestranza, “My Spain”, reaping the greatest hits of critic and public. His previous discography includes very different works on labels such as Mandala, RTVE, Autor, Almaviva and BMG, which in 1998 published his version of the Aranjuez Concerto in “Rodrigo Guitar Concerto”.
